Northern Michigan has some of the absolute best wedding venues in the country— we are lucky to call it home! Most of the best venues make you take a step back and wonder: am I even in Michigan anymore?

Alas, here is our list of, hands down, the best wedding venues for Up North weddings, with venues near Traverse City, Petoseky, Charlevoix, Glen Arbor, and more! Mid-July has filmed at most of the following locations— stunning as they may be, their reputation precedes them all. There’s no wrong answer!

“Up north” wedding Venues

Lake Bluff Preserve | Frankfurt, MI

Lake Bluff Preserve is a venue that makes you feel like you’re saying “I do” on the ocean’s coast. Dig your toes in the sand during your ceremony, and retreat into the woods for your reception, all with the quiet, serene views of Lake Michigan.

The bluff itself is a massive, 350’ tall sand dune— a sight hard to forget. At the top, open & bright cottages are perched for your morning’s festivities & getting ready photos. Don’t worry, the guys and girls can both get their own cottages, and they’re open to crash at after the party. Planning is a breeze!

It’s a destination wedding, without the expensive destination,

French Valley Vineyard | Leeland, MI

An old barn at a vineyard— what more could you want?

French Valley Vineyard boasts a 300-person wedding barn (built by the Amish) and a 75-acre property. Yours to explore with your videographer and photographer!

The views are breathtaking, and the barn itself will give you rustic, yet elegant vibes. The best news? It’s very affordable, starting at $2,000 for the peak season.

Inn at Bay Harbor | Near Petoskey, MI

The Inn is beyond stunning. It’s a spectacular, regal hotel and resort on Little Traverse Bay, and is owned by the Autograph Collection. Get married on the beach, and enjoy their scenic ballroom and tented patio— all located half way between Petoskey and Bay Shore.

When you have a wedding at the Inn, you’ll also get access to a lovely bridal penthouse, and there are plenty of mansion-sized condos for rent. Guests and your bridal party can stay night, or enjoy it for the day!

The Inn will be unforgettable for all.

Garvey Wedding Barn | Traverse City, MI

Located just a few miles outside of Traverse City (technically Williamsburg, Michigan), Garvey Family Wedding Barn is a fantastic wedding video for Traverse City couples looking for a remote, quiet, and relaxed wedding.

The huge property at the wedding barn includes the barn, a stable, a small hunter’s cabin— and the grounds include a lake, pasture, and more. The best way to get around? A rugged golf cart or ATV!

Castle Farms | Charlevoix, MI

Castle Farms is a wedding venue that makes you wonder: This exists in Michigan?

It lives up to its name, too. The architecture makes it look like an old castle, fortified on grounds fit for a king and queen. They even give you a map to get around, because its so big!

Castle Farms also features a wine cellar— with wine they make themselves! If you need to check the place out before you book, just swing by their wine tasting room
